Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash Review

I got this Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash from my Influenster Voxbox and I was delighted to see that it is from Dove! As a long time Dove product user, getting this box is indeed a great #GiftofGentle. I started using Dove products when I moved to the big city to study in the University. I lived in the countryside, so moving to the city was a huge environmental adjustment for me, the sudden change of weather made my skin so dry and scaly. The first Dove body wash that I tried was the deep moisture body wash which smells so good and deeply hydrating. I also tried other body wash brands for some time, but I always gravitate towards Dove. Then I started using their shampoo and conditioner products as well.

Today, I will be giving my review about Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash. It was winter when I started using it and at that time my skin is really dry even if I use moisturizing cream. I’ve noticed that the more I stay outside, the more my skin gets red and itchy. Too much dryness lead to skin flakiness and eventually sensitivity. And it doesn’t help that I shower everyday, so I try to compensate by using moisturizing creams which gives little to no help.

The first 3 days after using Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash, I didn’t actually see any change in my skin condition, it is still flaky and dry. But after 7 days of use, that’s when I noticed an improvement. Now, I am on my second week and the dryness and itchiness are gone.

This is unscented, which is common for product designed for sensitive skin because synthetic fragrances are the top irritants and allergens for the skin. But based on my research, unscented doesn’t really mean it is “fragrance-free”, unscented means that the product doesn’t have a strong odor because there is another ingredient that is masking the smell. Fragrance-free products are safer than unscented, but with the success rate of unscented products in people who have sensitive skin, it is safe to say that Dove still did a good job in keeping this product unscented. I still prefer the scented ones, but this product surely helped me during winter when I become hopeless with my skin dryness.

I dissected the ingredients of this product and I was relieved that it is free from sulfate, paraben and formaldehyde which are really harsh skin chemicals. It has a unique formula called NutriumMoisture which replenishes nutrients that are lost. But, I need to point out that it has Methylisothiazolinone which is also a skin irritant.

I love all Dove products and I’ve been using it for the last 12 years, no question about how it make my skin soft, smooth and moisturized but I will give this review a 4/5 for the Methylisothiazolinone ingredient that is included and for being unscented instead of fragrance-free. Overall, I love it and it is still a highly recommended product for me for those with sensitive skin.
