Belif Korean Skin Care Products Review
As a certified Sephora window shopper, I am always on the lookout for skin care line with the promise to deliver efficacy. Belif is one of the skin care brands that I want to try, specially because I follow the 10 steps Korean beauty routine. Ever since Korean beauty products took the skin care market by storm, I jumped in the bandwagon for a promise of glassy skin. The day I decided to follow the strict 10 step routine was when I flew from Toronto to the Philippines through Korean Air and stayed in Korea for my 5 hours layover back and fourth and saw how perfectly flawless Korean people are. The employees of Korean Air are all Koreans, starting from the ground personnel to flight attendants, I’ve noticed one thing; they have glassy luminous healthy looking skin. I was even more appalled when I arrived in Incheon Airport and was welcomed by immaculate looking Korean people going through their day to day lives. Self care is very important for Korean people and I salute Koreans for their dedication in following a rigorous 10 steps routine. I am trying my best to religiously follow the routine and believe me it’s very tasking, but once you see the result, you’ll thank yourself for all the half asleep state that you are still scrubbing your face.
Today, I am going to review 3 Belif Products; Mild and Effective Facial Scrub, Bergamot Herbal Extract Toner, and True Cream – Aqua Bomb. I wrote this review 7 days after religiously using the products. All products received are designed for Combination skin type (my skin type).
Description: This formula is a unique blend of time-tested apothecary herbs including lemon balm, a soothing and detoxifying agent. It features gentle yet powerful dual-scrub actions: exfoliating scrub to remove skin’s dead cells and cleansing scrub to deeply cleanse pores. More than a simple cleanser, it prevents breakouts and smooths skin for a clear, healthy-looking complexion.
Verdict: This one smells natural with very fine scrub granules. I am glad that it is free from harsh chemical such as Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates. I always look out to those because they are skin damaging. I scrubbed it on my face for 30 seconds and I was surprised to see dead skin cells coming off while exfoliating my face. It’s too gentle that I did not even feel like something is being sloughed off. My face felt soft and smooth afterwards. There were no redness and dryness. I used it twice in the last 7 days. I will give this 4/5 rating.
Description: This botanical toner features a unique gel-liquid format designed to hydrate and balance normal to oily skin to create an even and deeply moisturized complexion after cleansing. Formulated with bergamot and sage—apothecary herbal ingredients that help to clarify and hydrate skin by locking in moisture—skin appears supple and revitalized over time.
Verdict: Unlike most toners that are watery in consistency, this one is in liquid gel form, thick and colored brown. It has mild chemical scent, but not the type that bothers me. As what the label says it has 5% Polyglutamic acid solution to keep the skin moisturized and smooth. I try to avoid toners with harsh chemical because my skin turns red and itchy right away which is a sign of sensitivity. I though I would get the same effect when I used this toner but surprisingly I did not. It’s very gentle and my skin looked refreshed. I will give this 4/5 rating.
Description: The True Cream Aqua Bomb is an ultra-lightweight, mineral oil-free gel-cream that instantly cools and refreshes skin while providing intensive hydration. This formula contains a blend of apothecary herbs, including antioxidant-rich lady’s mantle, which helps neutralize skin-damaging free radicals, improves skin elasticity, and minimizes the appearances of pores. This refreshing cream is formulated to ‘burst’ when applied, releasing a flood of weightless moisture onto skin, and then absorb completely for a healthy, smooth, supple appearance.
Verdict: This cream is literally “The Bomb”! The first night I tried it was also the night I did my mud mask. Every after doing mud mask my face feels itchy, warm and dry so after toning, I applied ample amount of the aqua bomb and it felt cold and really soothing. It has cooling effect that literally took the warmness of my skin away. It is rich in hydrating power that I felt my skin had the best drink of its life. It is a bit greasy for few minutes after application but it then settled and just leave my skin moisturized whole day. I will give this a 5/5!
Conclusion: Packaging wise, I love the simplicity of it. The white and black combination is classic, it is something that you want to display on your dresser. I also like the idea that there is a percentage list of each ingredients inside. The transparency give customers the idea of what they are getting. I am ingredient conscious, so knowing that this is dermatologist tested and free of mineral oils, petrolatum, synthetic preservatives, dyes, fragrances, and animal origin ingredients gives me a breath of fresh air. The set that I got are complimenting each other specially the toner and the aqua bomb. After 7 days of use, I can say it did minimized my pores and my skin looked healthier now. I will rate Belif products 4/5 because of how well my skin responded with it.
