Derma Roller System 1.0mm Review
Have you guys heard about Derma Rollers? Me, I’ve heard about it from my friends who regularly go to Dermatology Clinic for treatment and they call their treatment Microneedling. Little did I know that we can now have our own treatment at home by getting a Derma Roller.
Thanks to Derma Roller System for sending me this to try. I chose 1.0mm needle and today I am going to share my experience with you guys.
Before I tell you the effects of Derma Roller on me, it is important for me to tell you what this is for. Derma Roller or commonly called Microneedle Roller is a hand held device that has 200 extremely fine medical-grade needles that are rolled over your skin to cause pores to open to trigger your body’s natural healing process thereby stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen gives your skin its firmness while elastin keeps your skin tight. These cells are important in skin regeneration, thereby, giving you smooth and younger looking skin.
When you buy Derma Roller, there are different needle sizes and you have to be mindful of the frequency of use, because improper use of Derma Roller can damage your skin. For needles 0.5mm, you can use it daily up to 5 time a week and for needles 1.0mm and above, you only have to use it 3 to 4 times a week. I use mine once a month only. There will be a manual included when you buy the Derma Roller, please read it before using the Roller. Below is the photo of the needle guide, it will give you a better understanding of the benefits of each needle size.
This is the Derma Roller 1.0mm that I got. Basing on the needle guide above, the needle 1.0mm have the most benefit if you will use it for face treatment, hence, it is the one that I chose. Depending on your need, you always have a choice which one works best for you.
Warning to everyone, it hurts. Anything that pricks our skin hurts or maybe more for me since my pain threshold is low. They say needle 0.5mm doesn’t hurt, it only tingles, but for needles 1.0mm and above it hurts. The bigger the needle the more it hurts.
This is how I started my routine (I would rather say routine than procedure to not make it sound so dangerous). I first cleaned the Roller with water then soaked it in alcohol for 10 minutes. While waiting, I cleaned my face thoroughly to remove oil and dirt. I even applied alcohol in cotton pad and gently wiped my face with it. It wasn’t part of the routine, but remember the skin will be pricked with needle, so I made sure the surface is disinfected well. I was once an Operating Room Nurse so I know the drill. I bought a numbing cream, but I decided not to use it the first time since I want to experience how painful it would feel. Guess what? That was the most stupid idea, it hurts so bad that I have to stop and apply numbing cream. I waited another 15 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect then started Derma Rolling. My face turned red, some parts bleed which is normal, but I cannot feel the pain anymore because of the numbing cream.
Afterwards, I washed my face with water to remove the blood. No worries, it is not oozing blood, it is not as bad as it sounds okay? Remember, beneath the dermis are small blood vessels so it is normal for your skin to bleed after pricking. If you easily faint with the sight of blood then don’t do it.
It is essential to clean your roller after using so before you put on creams, clean your roller first by washing it under running water then soak it with alcohol for 30 minutes. While waiting, you can put on your DermaCell Collagen cream or apply the PureDerm mask. For me, I did the mask first leaving it for 15 minutes followed by the cream. Your pores will close 2 hours after pricking as bodies mechanism in healing process.
This is the PureDerm Collagen Face Mask that I used after Derma Rolling. It feels very soothing and relaxing. It is important to use Collagen products after Derma Rolling because that’s when your pores are open. Though pricking alone already stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, these are only plentiful in young skin but start to break down with natural aging and sun exposure. So it is essential to use supplemental collagen in the form of mask and cream.
DermaCell Collagen Cream is the cream that I used after masking. If you don’t have any collagen mask, you can use this alone after Derma Rolling. This mask is thick and very hydrating. I use it daily as my day cream because it keeps my face moisturized the whole.
Conclusion: The effect was not noticeable right away but I can feel that my skin is responding well with this treatment. This overall experience has been amazing. I am not getting any younger so I am very much into beauty products that could give me positive result in terms minimizing the appearance of wrinkles while keeping my face smooth and well hydrated. To be honest, I was a bit reluctant at first because it is invasive but after thorough research and finally confirming that it is safe, I finally gave in.
If you are thinking of doing your home treatment using Derma Roller, the earlier you can start, the better. Derma Roller System is currently on sale with the set that I received for only $89.95 from the original price of $199.95.
