Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong
Say hi to Madame Tussauds once again! This is the second Madame Tussauds that I visited. The first one was in Singapore and it was last year. If you want to check my blog at Madame Tussauds Singapore please click here.
I love looking at celebrity wax figures because this is the only way for me to see my favorite celebrities up close and have an idea how they look like and how tall and big they are. Atleast here, I can take photos and selfie’s with them effortlessly.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has over 100 wax figures. It doubled the number of wax figures in Singapore which I really like. Come with me and I’ll show you around. I only included the celebrities that I know and like and the ones that was not in Madame Tussauds Singapore.
Just to give you an idea of wax figure making process, they make a clay model of the head and body which is used to create a mould. Wax cast of the head and hands are made from the mould, and the eyes are inserted. Each eye is hand-painted to achieve a perfect match of the original. Real human hair is then inserted strand by strand. Can you imagine that?
In addition, the head and hands are coloured using a blend of oil, water and acrylic colour. From the mould, the body is cast in fibreglass, and the head and hands are fitted to the fiberglass body and dressed in clothes that are often donated by the celebrity. The whole process usually takes up to six months by a team of 20 people to create and cost about HK$1 million each. Yes, that expensive. Good thing I was careful enough not to destroy those wax figures since I was hugging them one by one.
Let’s start with HONG KONG GLAMOUR.
Hong Kong’s very own Jackie Chan.
Another Hong Kong Legend, Bruce Lee.
China’s Bond Girl Michelle Yeoh.
Nicole Kidman
Johnny Depp
THE CHAMPIONS
Muhammad Ali who recently passed away. May your soul rest in peace.
Maria Sharapova.
Tiger Woods.
HISTORICAL AND NATIONAL HEROES
Mahatma Gandhi whose quotes have been over used by me.
Their royal highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn.
Spanish artist Pablo Picasso who is popular for his controversial painting Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
Everyone may not know him just by looking at this wax figure but hey! This is William Shakespeare, regarded as the greatest writer in English literature. Notable work includes Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, etc.
The genius Albert Einstein.
MUSIC ICONS
The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Priestly.
Lead vocalist of the rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury. The best thing about him is that he wrote and sung Bohemian Rhapsody, but died too soon because of AIDS.
The Beatles! They are the One Direction of the new generation. I have a photo of them at Madame Tussauds in Singapore but it’s an old version of them. Here, they’re young..
Lady Gaga.
My bae Taylor Swift. I look stressed and fat beside you but who cares? As long as I’m beside you, I surely don’t mind.
This is a K-pop star. I forgot his name, I just took his photo because his corner looks too posh.
FICTIONAL CHARACTERS
Let me be your Mary Jane Watson today Spider-Man.
Iron Man
Hello Kitty! I’m such a fan! This character is all over HK that it makes me question if HK really stands for Hong Kong or Hello Kitty? Lol.
The Mermaid and me.
