Topbox February 2019 Review
Topbox is a Canadian subscription box and currently the subscription box that I love. So today, I will be giving my honest review of what I think about the products that I received from their February 2019 box. The box arrived on time, but my review is late.
Name of the Box: Topbox
Cost: $12 CAD + tax (free shipping)
What you will get: Each month, subscribers will get four beauty samples. Samples can range from skincare, bodycare, makeup, haircare and fragrance. The samples are from prestige brands. Some of these brands are well known and others are newly launched or small and niche.
Here comes the products!
A Lip Stix do it all; liner and lipstick all in one with a
Nova Scotia Fisherman Extreme Lip Care Canadian Maple Lip Balm – $4.98 or $9.95 (double pack)
Infused natural balm formula with all the goodness of Canadian maple. Sweet, rich, and packed full of natural moisturizers and protectants against the weather.
Another proud Canadian product! Who understands extreme Canadian weather better? No other than people from Canada, right? Believe me when I say I haven’t used lip balms until I arrived in Canada. Not just ordinary lip balms, but the ones that provide moisture and hydration, especially during the harsh winter months. This product surely delivered that and even exceeded my expectation. It smells and tastes like maple (very Canadian!) which makes you feel like you are eating pancakes every day.
Let me also emphasize that based on their website, their lip balm is gluten free, paraben and phthalate free, cruelty-free, artificial scent and artificial color free, and vegan friendly. What more can we ask for?
Manna Kadar Goddess Palette Split Pan Eyeshadow in Venus and Iris – $9.8 or $49 (set)
This amazing palette is perfect for that person on the go!
I’ve tried other Manna Kadar products before because they have been to so many subscription boxes, but just like
VDL Cosmetics Lumilayer Primer Fresh 5ml – $5.66
Ultra-hydrating primer infused with sparkling pigments that leave your skin sun-kissed and flawless with a luxurious glow. With 70% of the formula dedicated to delivering moisture, your complexion will be revived with the vitality it needs.
This is the first time that I sampled VDL. I don’t usually buy makeup products that I am not quite familiar so I stick to my trusted Benefit cosmetics primer. This primer has a bit of shimmer and its texture adds moisture to my skin which make makeup application easy. I am surprised that I am liking this product and might be considering buying the full size.
VDL Cosmetics Perfect Lasting Foundation in V04 5ml (Bonus) – $6.16
Long-lasting foundation complex consists of Flat Cover Pigment, which provides a velvety-smooth finish and long-lasting flawless Air Pore Powder.
As per Topbox, I got this foundation as a bonus when I filled out my wishlist, hence I have it inside my February box. I am not into liquid foundation because I find it too tacky and heavy on my skin but this one is actually different. After applying this to my skin and rubbing the right amount, it eventually settled in soft powdery form. It also covered my blemishes and pigment scars. I love it so much!
La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum 3ml (Bonus) – $4.90
I got this serum in a separate package but since it is from also from Topbox, I decided to review it along with my February products as well. This serum is thick and a bit sticky but it also gets absorbed easily. I only had the chance to use it for 2 application because 3 ml is not so much is you want to see results so I don’t think I can give any reliable review about this product. All I can say is, it did moisturize my skin after application.
Total Product Value: C$51.50 (including the 2 bonus)
Amount paid for this subscription: C$12.00 + tax
How much I saved: C$39.50
Conclusion: For the last 4 months in Topbox, I was fortunate to have my wish granted so getting a regular Topbox on February disappointed me a bit because it’s when I realized, I am only getting the samples which would not even last me a week of use. However, on the bright side, I get to try products that I might possibly use in the long run. I am also into skincare so getting mostly makeup products are a miss.
