Topbox is a Canadian subscription box and currently the subscription box that I love. So today, I will be giving my honest review of what I think about the products that I received from their June 2018 box. The box arrived on time, but my review is late.

Name of the Box: Topbox

Cost: $12 CAD + tax (free shipping)

What you will get: Each month, subscribers will get four beauty samples. Samples can range from skincare, bodycare, makeup, haircare and fragrance. The samples are from prestige brands. Some of these brands are well known and others are newly launched or small and niche.

Here comes the products!

Maskeraide Bubble Bubble Pop Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask – $7.00
Bubble Bubble Pop activates with oxygen for a very bubbly and tingly experience that will invigorate, purify and deep clean. This charcoal bubble sheet mask is cruelty free, paraben free, artificial pigment free, and has recyclable packaging.

This mask is fun! I cleaned my face thoroughly before putting it on and it started bubbling right away. The bubbling tickle and made me giggle, then after few minutes it started to sting a bit. It has a strong power of charcoal which is good in cleaning the pores. I tried to rinse it off with water but it is thick, so I decided to wipe it using a cleansing cloth.  Afterwards, my skin felt clean and fresh and soft to touch.

AlumierMD Vitamin Rich Smoother (C&E) 8ml – $10 (estimate)
Vitamin Rich Smoother is formulated with antioxidants vitamin C (USP grade L-ascorbic acid) and vitamin E (USP grade tocopherol) to brighten and revitalize the look of the skin. Vitamin C (15%) and vitamin E work together to firm skin and improve texture and tone. This formulation is the perfect base for makeup. It’s silky consistency evens out skin texture, minimizes the appearance fine lines and wrinkles, and leaves skin looking and feeling smooth.

I haven’t heard of a smoother, so I conclude this is a primer since in the description it says makeup base. I love using primer because it makes makeup application very easy. For me, this primer is just OK, it is light and a bit watery and I have to apply a lot for full coverage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t smoothen my skin or block out my pores, like a primer is supposed to do. If I am going to compare it with the current primer that I am using which is from Benefit, I would still chose my Benefit primer. I guess the advantage of this product are the the nutrients I get such as vitamin C and E.

Douccee Fierce and Fine Graphic Pen (Full Size) – $21
A deeply pigmented waterproof graphic pen that is both easy to use and creates precise, sharp lines. The formula glides on seamlessly without the hassle of tugging or pulling. Create various elegant eye looks whether it be a timeless cat-eye or a thin sublime line for definition. The formula will not smear, flake, nor budge.

This eye liner is stunningly pitch black and highly pigmented, but I had a hard time applying it because it easily dries up. I have to shake it for the liquid to go down, which made it even more difficult to do winged eye liner without being interrupted in the process. I love the quality of this graphic pen, but I would still prefer pencil and liquid eye liner over pen eye liner.

Nude by Nature Translucent Loose Finishing Powder 2g – $6
A loose mineral finishing powder that helps control shine while setting make-up in a satin matte finish.

As part of my morning routine, I put on heavy moisturizing cream and sunscreen that makes my face look shiny even after foundation application, so I top it off with loose powder. This finishing powder gave my skin a matte finish, it masks pores, doesn’t crease and doesn’t look powdery. I was worried at first because the powder is white and my skin complexion is light brown, but gladly it blended well since it is translucent. This is one of the best Loose Finishing Powder that I’ve tried!

Total Product Value: C$44.00

Amount paid for this subscription: C$12.00 + tax

How much I saved: C$32

Conclusion: This month curation is mostly make up, which made it my least favorite. I love the face mask even if I don’t think bubble is necessary, but still it’s a fun discovery. The primer and the eye liner are disappointments, but I can still put them in good use so it’s okay. The finishing powder is something that I need at this time so I am happy for that. This month is not so good but not so bad either. We will see for the next month. Crossing my finger!
